7 aesthetic and functional lighting products for 2024

Jan. 3, 2024
Eye-catching form factors and function-focused fixtures are among these new releases.

As 2024 kicks off, check out some of the luminaires and customization programs that have caught our attention.

Skynest, Flos

Created by Flos and product and interior designer Marcel Wander, Skynest eschews traditional pendant design to transform the basket into the source of light itself. The 24 LED strips covered in fabric form the pendant shape of Skynest, a fixture without a central core or lampshade. Light is emitted from the LEDs suspended on one side while the two-toned textiles remain visible on the outside. The Motion version is supported on a color-matched stem to the ceiling and balanced by a counterweight. For rooms with low room heights, Ceiling cordlessly attaches to a ceiling fitting. flos.com

Spring, Diesel Living with Lodes

A slender yet flexible floor lamp, Spring bends back on itself at its base. A part of the Diesel Living with Lodes line, which also includes Spring wall and ceiling lights, the Spring floor lamp evokes the clean, minimal lines often found in fashion. Three adjustable feet at the base ensure the light can be projected evenly on a surface even when the floor is uneven. The 2700K LED strip creates a warm incandescent glow, and a foot dimmer allows lighting intensity to be adjusted. lodes.com

Acoustic Wing, LightArt

Acoustic Wing surrounds the company’s slim-profile Casper pendant in a fully wrapped Sola Felt shade designed to optimize sound absorption and control noise in small spaces. The integrated LED light source is offered with tunable light and RGB options. Two new sizes — 6-by-4 feet and 4-by-2 feet — augment the Acoustic Wing line of acoustic lighting fixtures. lightart.com

Summit, Allied Maker

The two solid glass domes of the Summit Sconce transform the bright spotlight sources within the fixture into a warm glow. The solid-brass fixture includes Emery Allen 7W GU10 bulbs. Similar to the sconce, the Summit Downlight diffuses light via a solid-glass optic with anti-glare properties. The downlight fixture lends itself to use in a layered group. alliedmaker.com

Structure Mini Round, Insight Lighting

Offering suspended, pendant, and extended arm mounting options, the Structure Mini Round luminaire is offered in length from 24 to 72”. Its precision extruded aluminum body evokes sleek modern lines in a durable, practical fixture. The high-performance LEDs provide 4, 8 or 12 watts per foot output and adjustable color temperature from 2700 to 4000K. Control options include 0 to 10 V dimming and Lutron compatibility. insightlighting.com

Curated Finishes for Luminaires, Focal Point

Encompassing biophilic architectural trends, The Naturals Collection from Focal Point includes acoustic baffles, linear luminaires, lit and acoustic pendants, downlights, cylinders and acoustic ceiling tiles. Five wood and fabric textures matched on PET felt and luminaire trims and housings allow designers to incorporate nature-inspired textures in decorative lighting. focalpointlights.com

Modular LED Downlights, DMF Lighting

DMF Lighting recently expanded its commercial collection with high-lumen packages for hospitality and mixed-use spaces. The 4” aperture M Series incorporates interchangeable optics, modules and trims and is suitable for grand outdoor entrances, lobbies, restaurants and guest rooms. Offered in lumen packages from 700 to 3500, the fixed-downlight or adjustable-module configurations ease on-site adjustments and design changes while improving serviceability. Because drivers are integrated into the light-engine modules instead of the housing, the quick-disconnect modules can be field-swapped without tools via below-ceiling access. dmflighting.com
