On Sept. 12, Women in Lighting + Design (WILD) is offering a webinar on recognizing, preventing, and condemning sexual harassment and bullying in professional settings.
WILD’s Lamplight Coalition will be presenting the webinar as part of the group’s “Be Aware, Be There” (BABT) campaign, and attendees can expect to learn how to “recognize and respond to behaviors that could lead to constitute harassment, acknowledge barriers that may prevent action and develop realistic options for intervening, and identify ways they can utilize their spheres of influence to establish a climate of dignity and respect.”
The webinar will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 12, from 4-5 p.m. CDT and will be led by Kristen Parks from the nonprofit Alteristic. Tickets are $20 and free to WILD members.
Formed in the 1990s, WILD has strived to provide a supportive network in the architectural lighting industry that empowers members by increasing representation, amplifying voices, and facilitating personal and professional growth. WILD’s vision is to “create a more balanced, equitable, and diverse industry that empowers and celebrates women.”
WILD’s Lamplighter Coalition, headed by Illuminart lighting designer and associate Elizabeth Williams, is a program that aims to create awareness around sexual harassment in professional culture and provide tools and resources to help members of the lighting industry reject, stop, and prevent sexual harassment.
Alongside the BABT campaign, the Lamplight Coalition has also launched the “Break the Silence” campaign, which is intended to create awareness of the prevalence of sexual harassment and assault in professional culture.
