UniQuad Translucent Wall System Panels

May 1, 2024

The architectural team at Hafer Design specified over 13,000-sq. ft. of UniQuad’s translucent wall system panels on the new Deaconess Aquatic Center. The panels enabled the design team to bring daylight into the competitive pool area in a way that prevented glare from disrupting swimmers and fans.

“The translucent panels that flank the south and east walls of the competition pool area allow natural light to penetrate the competition space while minimizing harsh shadows that would distract swimmers and lifeguards,” states Jennifer Kissel, senior associate/architect, Hafer Design, Evansville, Ind.

The UniQuad panels feature a custom-designed dot pattern illustrating the forms of swimmers in action. “At night, the dot patterns that adorn the translucent panels appear, creating glowing images of swimmers on the building’s exterior,” explains Kissel.
