The Rocky Mountain Institute in its July 2021 Reducing Embodied Carbon in Buildings report, identified the following top categories for reducing embodied carbon:

• Concrete (14-33% reduction possible)

• Rebar (4-10% reduction possible)

• Insulation (16% reduction possible)

• Glazing (3% reduction possible)

• Finish materials (5% reduction possible)
