All eyes were on the opening of Selfridges’ new optical destination, the final part of the store’s Accessories Hall makeover. Working alongside Alex Cochrane Architects, FDA bespoke lighting creator, Nulty, implemented a LED lighting scheme that exudes high-end, to do justice to the specs and sunglasses, and each element of the luxury interior design.
To fulfill the brief, Nulty focused on integrating light into joinery, walls, feature display cases, shelving and mirrors. The geometric-shaped display cases feature indirect lighting details that emphasise the features’ forms and draw attention to the glasses. They have a big impact on the space along with the bespoke circular mirrors, which are surrounded by a delicate line of light that provides the perfect amount of vertical illumination onto the face, without creating shadows. Away from the retail floor, the luxurious experience continues in the optical and consultation rooms, which have a calm, relaxing feel, some with a stylish, completely blue interior.
